Timetable
This module runs part time in the evening on Mondays (18.30 - 21.00), commencing 21 April and ending 23 June 2008. There may also be the requirement for one Saturday attendance. Please contact the provider for further details.
Course info
This course is validated by the Confederation of Scottish Counselling Agencies (COSCA). Its main aim is to enable people to recognise and manage stress in themselves and others. The course involves exploring effective ways of managing stress through supporting others, identifying the causes and effects of stress, exploring effective ways of managing it, practising counselling skills and developing Stress Briefing and De-stress programmes which can be used in a range of work settings. Participants will also develop competence in undertaking Stress Audits within the Health and Safety Executive Stress Management Standards. Applicants must have been awarded the COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills, or equivelent.The course is made up of four modules of which this Module 4 is: Practical Applications/Organisation IssuesThis is the final module of the course, which aims to focus on practical applications to reduce and manage stress, and in particular within the context of work organisations. It is 30 hours in duration and is made up of the following 10 units; Developing an individual Counselling Approach Programme for use within your context, Presenting an individual Counselling Approach Programme for use within your context, Skills Practice and feedback, Developing a Stress Briefing Programme, Presentation of a Stress Briefing Programme, Skills Practice and feedback, Developing a De-Stressing Workshop, Presenting a De-Stressing Workshop, Skills Practice and feedback, Evaluation, Review and Ending. This module is assessed by participants producing a written assignment of 2000 words evaluating their progress and development.
How much will it cost?
This module costs £260.The Centre also accepts individual learning accounts from ILA Scotland as part payment for courses. To qualify for this you must be over 18 and living in Scotland and earn £18,000 a year or less as the Centre accepts £200 accounts only.
Entry Requirements
Students must have completed the COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills, or equivalent.
